The Staunton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (SRHA) provides safe and affordable housing to members of its community to enhance quality of life, promote economic opportunity and offer a suitable living environment free from discrimination. Through commitment to staff excellence, SRHA is dedicated to treating all participants with dignity and respect. 

About Us

The SRHA is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, created following Title 36 of the Code of Virginia.  The SRHA was organized on March 9th, 1961, and it has been in continual operation since that date.

Our Programs

Staunton Redevelopment & Housing Authority administers two separate Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income-based housing programs.  You can click the links below to learn more about our two programs.

Office Hours:

  • 8am-11am and 1pm-5pm, Tuesday-Friday

The office is CLOSED on Mondays, with the exception of pre-scheduled appointments.  Staff will not be answering doors for walk-ins. 

Calendar:

  • 4/13-14 - Remote Area Medical Free Clinic at the Augusta Expo Center.  This is a pop-up clinic offering free healthcare, including dental, vision, and medical.  For more information, you can visit their website HERE or call 865-579-1530. 

  • 4/16/24 - Monthly Board Meeting, 100 Elizabeth Miller Gardens (Maintenance Building), 12pm.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING OFFICE HOURS

Effective 3/6/24, the office will be closed to the public  for 2 hours at lunch time each day, from 11am to 1pm.  Please make an appointment via our contact page or by calling the office if you need to speak with someone during this time.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Applicants and HCV tenants are now able to use our online portal to create and manage an account.  You must apply for the HCV and PBV programs through this portal.  You are also able to check your position on the HCV and PBV waiting lists through the portal.  Please click here for more information. 


HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM WAITLIST

The Housing Choice Voucher Program waitlist, commonly referred to as Section 8, remains OPEN.  You may still submit an application to be placed on our waiting list.  Please click here to visit our Housing Choice Voucher Program page for more information.

Blue Ridge FastForward 

FastForward is a short-term workforce credential program to train Virginians for top, in-demand jobs across the Commonwealth.  

Most credential programs take between six and 12 weeks and are built so students can get their education while they work.  You can find more information on Blue Ridge Community College's website HERE


AUGUSTA HEALTH MOBILE CLINIC

Augusta Health offers a mobile clinic, providing health care to those in our community for whom traveling is difficult or impossible.  

Patients may visit several locations throughout the city on specific days per month to receive primary or preventative care, lab work, chronic disease management, vaccines, Medicaid enrollment, referrals to specialty physicians, and more.
